FAQ

Car Battery Questions, Answered

Everything you need to know about choosing, replacing and caring for your car battery in the Eastern Suburbs.

How do I know if my car battery needs replacing?
Common warning signs include slow or laboured engine cranking, dashboard battery warning lights, dim headlights, electrical glitches and a battery more than three to five years old. The surest way to know is a free battery and charging-system test — drop in or call 02 9398 7888.
How long does a car battery last?
A good-quality battery typically lasts four to five years with proper care, though failure can occur in as little as three years depending on driving habits, climate and electrical load. Short trips and extreme heat both shorten battery life.
How much does a new car battery cost?
Prices depend on the battery type and size your vehicle requires — conventional, EFB or AGM. We provide an upfront quote before any work. Call with your car make, model and year for an accurate price.
Can you supply and fit the battery the same day?
Yes. In most cases we supply and fit your new battery on the spot at our Randwick workshop, usually within minutes. Call ahead and we’ll have the right battery ready when you arrive.
What is the difference between AGM, EFB and conventional batteries?
Conventional (flooded) batteries suit older cars with simple electrics. EFB (Enhanced Flooded) batteries are built for entry-level Start-Stop vehicles. AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries deliver up to three times the cycle life and suit Start-Stop cars with regenerative braking and high electrical demand.
Do I need a special battery for a Start-Stop car?
Yes. Start-Stop vehicles cycle the battery far more heavily than conventional cars, so they require an EFB or AGM battery designed for that duty. Fitting a standard battery to a Start-Stop car can dramatically shorten its life. We’ll confirm the correct type for your vehicle.
Will a new battery reset my car’s settings?
Some vehicles temporarily lose settings such as radio presets or require a Start-Stop system relearn after a battery change. Our auto electricians manage the replacement correctly to minimise any disruption.
Do you offer a free battery check?
Yes — we test your battery and charging system free of charge so you know its true health before it lets you down. There’s no obligation to buy.
Which brands of car battery do you stock?
We are an authorised reseller of Bosch and Energizer batteries, including their AGM and EFB ranges for modern vehicles. Browse our full battery range.
Do you service my suburb?
We serve Randwick and the surrounding Eastern Suburbs within roughly a 10km radius, including Coogee, Maroubra, Bondi, Kensington and more. See our service areas.
